The Diorama: Knowledge's Handmaiden

What would a museum be without a diorama? Not much.

The Atesgah Fire Temple, an ancient center of Zoroastriansim near Baku, was a rather bare brick structure with a flame burning under a central canopy in the courtyard. But inside, mannequins demonstrated how to worship flame.

South of Baku there are prehistoric stone carvings. My camera ran out of batteries so I didn't photograph them. But I did have enough juice to get some shots of the diorama in the ticket building, which illustrated life of primitive man. Score!
